UNIQUE DALMATIA CRUISE 2010 FROM DUBROVNIK
Day 1, Saturday - Zaton(Dubrovnik) to Slano
EMBARKATION: Zaton (Bay), near Dubrovnik, is a village in southern Croatia, located on the coast of the eponymous bay, on the Dubrovnik Riviera, 8 km northwest of Dubrovnik. It is a beautiful and picturesque, 2 km long bay; divided to Veliki and Mali Zaton. Chief occupations are farming, viticulture, olive growing and tourism. Zaton has recognizable picture of Dubrovnik pastoral region. The Renaissance summer manors of former Dubrovnik aristocracies are a historical site that makes Zaton bay recognizable as a Dubrovnik summer manor region.
3:00 PM departure from Zaton to Slano; a village in southern Croatia and a small harbor in the bay of the same name, located 27 km northwest of Dubrovnik. Farming, olive-growing, viniculture, fruit-growing, tobacco, herbs (sage, laurel, woodworm), fishing and tourism are chief occupations.

Day 2, Sunday - Slano to Trstenik to Korčula
07:00 AM, departure from Slano to Trstenik; one of the oldest settlements on Pelješac, with beautiful natural bays and beaches, clear blue sea, surrounded by pine forest. It is a favored resort of many tourists who seek peace and quiet beauty of nature and typical Dalmatian atmosphere.
Trstenik was founded as a wine export port. First houses were built farther from the coast for protection against pirates, and coastal settlement developed in 19th century.

11:00 AM, departure from Trstenik to a Bay near Korcula to swimming and relaxing.
05:00 PM arrival in the city of Korcula – the town that lies beside the sea on the north-east end of the island Korcula. The old medieval part of the city was built on a small oval peninsula, a Baroque suburb spreads under the old city walls, and newer town quarters stretch along the shore to the east and west of the old centre. Today the city has about 3,000 inhabitants. Local legend has it that Marco Polo was born in Korcula Town (don't argue with a local on this point) and his house makes an interesting visit. The centre of town is dominated by the splendid St. Mark's Cathedral.

Day 3, Monday - Korcula to Hvar
08.00 AM, departure from Korčula to Hvar, stopping on the island Scedro for swimming and relaxation.
05:00 PM, arrival to Hvar - a unique fusion of luxurious Mediterranean nature, rich cultural and historical heritage, and mundane, tourist present. Its name derives from the Greek name for island and town, that stood where today Stari Grad (Hvar became an island’s centre in 13th century) stands - Pharos. Hvar gained glory and power during Middle Ages being an important port within the Venetian, naval empire. Today, it is centre of island’s tourism and one of the favorite destinations in Dalmatian Riviera - a town of smiling and courteous people, who are almost only dedicated to tourism.

Day 4, Tuesday - Hvar to Split
08:00 AM departure from Hvar to Split, stopping for swimming and relaxing in the bay of the Island of Brac.
4:00 PM Arrival to Split, the largest Dalmatian city, the second-largest urban centre in Croatia, and the seat of Split-Dalmatia County. Split is also one of the oldest cities in the area, and is traditionally considered just over 1,700 years old. Since 1979, the historic center of Split has been included in the UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. It is economic, administrative, educational, sport and tourist center of Split Dalmatia County (Middle Dalmatia), traffic connection to Croatia islands, pearls of Adriatic like Hvar, Vis, Brac and Solta. Many of Split's historical and cultural buildings can be found within the walls of Diocletian's Palace. In addition, numerous museums, the National Theatre, and old churches and other archeological sites in the Split region make it an important cultural attraction.

Day 5, Wednesday - Split to Vis
08:00 AM departure from Split to Vis, stopping in a Bay near Vis for swimming and relaxing.
04:30 PM Arrival in Vis; today's town developed by joining two localities Luka and Kut. This is a typical Mediterranean place of harmonious combination of many facades: summer houses, fortifications, towers and churches, protected by steep mountains on one side and the open sea on the other. The memories of this town begin long ago, in times known and unknown, they say from the times ancient Issa, a Greek polis-colony from Syracuse, and the oldest urban settlement on Croatian land.

Day 6, Thursday - Vis to Bisevo island to Mljet
07.00 AM departure from Vis to Biševo Island – tiny islet, only 5 nautical miles southwest of Komiža, on Vis Island. Covering 6 sq km, it would hardly be noticed at all except for its remarkable Blue Grotto (Modra Spilja) that strongly suggests the famous Grotto of Capri. Of about ten caves scattered around Bisevo's coast, the Blue Cave is the most outstanding.

09.30 AM departure from Biševo to Mljet; mentioned in the stories about Odyssey and St. Paul, as well as Benedictine monks and the Mediterranean Seal. Mljet is an elongated island, with an average width of 3 km, 37 km long. It is an Island of great diversity and contrast, and "Mljet" National Park covers his northwestern part with an area of 5.375 ha of protected land and surrounding sea. This area was proclaimed as national park 11 November 1960 and represents the first institutionalized attempt to protect an original ecosystem in the Adriatic.

Day 7, Friday - Mljet to Dubrovnik
08.00 AM departure from Mljet to Dubrovnik, stopping in Bay of Koločep for swimming and relaxing.
Dubrovnik is one of the most beautiful cities on the Croatian coast. In the middle Ages the Republic of Dubrovnik was an important rival of Venice. Many buildings in the Old city center testify of this glorious past and to its Venetian influence. Today, Dubrovnik is also a very lively city, with many things to do, both at day and night times. The coast nearby offers all sorts of activities and the town has many restaurants, bars and nightclubs. Dubrovnik is city rich with culture and history so it is listed in UNESCO World Heritage List. Dubrovnik has a rich cultural life that includes Dubrovnik theatre, several cinemas as well as Dubrovnik Film Festival and Dubrovnik Summer Festival, held every year in July and August.
